The West Texas Room G. B. Dealey Library
The austere lines of the room reflect the dry plains of West texas. The ceiling of hand-hewn beams, the adobe walls with cattle brands of Texas in relief and the cactus motif on the tile floor, all express this region of the state. Mural by Tom Lea also reflect the character of the land, as does a figure of a cowboy carved in wood by Dorothy Austin.
The West Texas room now houses the Dallas Historical Society's research library, named for longtime DHS President and Civic Leader, George B. Dealey.
